Notd: Models Own Mushroom

Today's Notd is Models Own' Mushroom.

I'll admit that when I did a double take when I looked at the name of the polish and the shade in the bottle. Surely a shade named Mushroom would be on the brownish spectrum right?

Nope! Models Own Mushroom is a grey-ed purple colour that looks comparable to Zoya's Kelly, and maybe a darker cousin of Metro Chic. The formula of this was pretty good, and needed just 2 coats for complete opacity.

I love colours like this, but I'm discovering that I have way too many shades that look like this in my collection. Let me know your thoughts if you think this shade is being overdone!

PS: Models Own is running a Facebook campaign.. get them to 100,000 Likes and they'll be having a 50% sale on their polishes! :) The sale is now LIVE!!

Things I'm Loving This Week #7

As you're reading this post, I am probably at the last day of the F1 race held here and dancing away to Katy Perry.. it's been a hectic 3 days but I love the excitement of being around the race circuit plus as a bonus, there are amazing concert acts... And it's been extended till 2017, hip hip hooray!

Managed to find some gems during this week, so let's get started!

The blush featured in the photo is Nars Douceur, and it's the perfect nude-brown/pink neutral blush to go with any outfit. Whenever I just want a neutral cheek, I reach for this and it matches any outfit. I've heard and read that Mac Tenderling is another neutral blush worth checking out, so that might be my next sneaky airport purchase!

I bought the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (I'm a shade 51 for reference) when I was in the UK last year, and while I've been loving (and am still loving my Jemma Kidd foundation, link to review here), sometimes you just want to change up your foundation.. I've been trying this out over a couple of weeks, but properly fell in love with it this week. Might do a review on this soon!

Ah, this week has been so busy, but I like being busy for a change.. Let me know if you've tried Tenderling from Mac and if I should give it a go! :)

Review: Benefit Powda Wowza

In my latest Things I'm Loving This Week post, I finally got around to using Benefit's Powda Wowza blush/bronzer palette and omg, I am in love!

Powda Wowza was a holiday palette put out by Benefit last year sometime around the December period, and contains of minis of Coralista (a gorgeous coral-pink), Bella Bamba (a 3D brightening pink) and Hoola (a soft bronze). I've always wanted to try out Coralista and Hoola, so when I spied this, I knew I had to get it.

Let me just say that I am so impressed with Coralista and Hoola (and I'm sure I'll be with Bella Bamba as well, just haven't gotten around to try that!) Coralista just gives the perfect coral flush (as with the name).. I'm not usually a girl that goes for coral blushes, but whenever I break out this palette, I find myself leaning towards Coralista and not Bella Bamba (which is the usual pinky blush that I lean towards). And Hoola? Just gives the perfect contour and sculpts my face without looking as though I've applied bronzer. And the best part? it's the right shade! Not too orangey or overly bronze..

I love the concept of Powda Wowza because it's a great way to try out Benefit's powder blushes all in the comfort of one little palette! I hope they'll release another one this year and include Hervana (because that's the one I have my eye on!) :)

Things I'm Loving This Week #6

Wow, can you believe it's the 6th edition of Things I'm Loving This Week already? I'm loving going through my stash every Sunday and picking new products to try and hopefully love and report back at the end of the week.

Benefit Powda Wowza
I picked this up in London last December and actually never got around to trying this. Powda Wowza consists of Coralista, Bella Bamba and Hoola. I'll try not to go that much into depth here because I'm planning to do a full blog post on this, so look out for that!

I loved using Coralista as a blush and Hoola as a bronzer with the Sonia Kashuk Large Powder Brush. I bought this brush almost 2 years ago and it is still going strong. It was a pain to use it initially because it kept shedding! But after constant use, and picking off the hairs off my face and washing it, it finally stopped shedding and it's an amazing brush to use to dust loose powder or blush/bronzer :)

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Things I'm Loving This Week #5

This week's Things I'm Loving was an easy one... and possibly features the first skincare product ever?

1. Shu Uemura Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil
I bought this last weekend and was so excited to try it. Back in the day when I first started getting into makeup, the original Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil was my makeup remover of choice, but I stopped using it after awhile. I'm not too sure when Shu Uemura added the Whitefficient line into their range, but I love it. Although it's a cleansing oil, I feel that it's not as heavy as the original one and it smells amazing too!

2. Jemma Kidd Creme Cheek Colour in 03 Paw Paw
3. Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour
I've been experimenting with peachy blushers instead of my usual pink ones, and Paw Paw was the most peach shade in my collection. One thing I love about this is that you can build up how pigmented you want the blush to look like. And the best way I've discovered to apply this blush (or any cream blush) is to use your fingers to place the colour on the cheek, then blend it with an angled brush. I randomly picked up the Sigma F40 brush, and it's been an absolute gem in blending the blush out. I was pleasantly surprised at how different a peachy blush looked like on my skin, but it's a good change!

Do you prefer peachy or pink blushers? I'm more of a pink girl, but the Jemma Kidd blush might have swayed me into trying out more peachy blushers :)

Things I'm Loving This Week #4

So this week was a pretty non-eventful week for me in terms of products I've been loving.

1. Bobbi Brown Blush in 11 Nectar
I was browsing the Bobbi Brown counter and had my heart set on this blush the moment I laid eyes on it. It's a warm pink colour, and trust me when I say that you need the tiniest amount of this for it to appear on the cheeks. It's gorgeous on the apples of the cheeks...

which brings me to my 2nd favourite for this week..

2. Real Techniques Powder Brush
I've discovered through the hard way is that the best brush to apply Nectar with is a big fat fluffy one, and the Real Techniques Powder Brush is just that. In fact, I'm probably going to only use this with any overly pigmented blushes or bronzers. Because this brush is this good!

3. butter London Jaffa nail polish
I've been itching to sport some bright polish on my toes for the longest time, so after removing the previous colour (Opi's Bubble Bath if anyone is curious!), I rummaged through my collection and found this. On me, it's the perfect mix between a bright pink and coral, and I love it! I do have to admit that it took me quite a few prior applications before I properly fell in love with this. The formulation for this was fabulous - opaque in 2 coats? Yes please!

Let me know if you're (like me) and am sporting bright nail polish on your toes.. :) And it's back to work tomorrow.. hope you're all having a good weekend!

Notd: Chanel Frenzy

If you told me that my next Chanel polish would come this soon after Black Pearl, I'd have scoffed at you because Chanel nail polishes are a luxurious splurge! But as soon as I laid my eyes on the promo pics of Frenzy, I just knew I had to get it.

Frenzy, on me, looks like a cool toned light taupe. After applying it on my nails, I did think I was a little crazy because it was just a meh polish. But over time, I caught myself looking at my nails and thinking "dang, that's a gorgeous colour".

Okay, I'll cut to the chase and say that I love this polish now. Opaque in 2 coats and glides beautifully on the nails, add on a little Seche Vite and you'll have the perfect manicure.

Have you tried Frenzy? Let me know if it's gotten you in a frenzy too :)
